World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season. The 27-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles title. A Year of Dominance Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final. The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the entire year as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year. In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago. Historic Achievements Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and picked up a record £11m in prize money. She garnered nearly 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists. Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "raise women's tennis to a higher level". Additional WTA Award Honorees Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking 13-month break following the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season. Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18. Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after capturing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair. Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five finals. Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
