Plane Carrying US Defense Secretary Required to Land in UK Because of Crack in Windshield

A plane transporting the US defense secretary was required to make an emergency landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday after a crack was discovered in the aircraft's cockpit window, as stated by an official announcement which confirmed that all passengers were secure.

"The aircraft touched down in accordance with standard procedures and everyone onboard, among them Defense Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson stated in a social media post.

Hegseth was returning from a brief trip to the Belgian capital at the time.

This event does not mark the initial instance that a United States armed forces jet transporting a senior official has experienced technical problems.

Earlier this year, a US Air Force plane transporting the US Secretary of State to Munich was required to turn back to the US capital after suffering a mechanical fault.
