Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior representative said the attack made him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on social media, mentioning the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
