🔗 Share this article A Ton of Anime Updates Dropped During the Holidays The Christmas holidays present a plethora of pastimes considerably more enjoyable than checking the latest news: discovering surprises, getting stuffed on holiday treats, and harnessing meditation skills to avoid snapping at family members. I hope you succeeded in do all these things and more. Nevertheless, the world of entertainment doesn't go on vacation, and this is notably true for the realm of anime. A slew of thrilling announcements emerged during the festive period, and just in case you didn't see a few, here is a summary of the juiciest bits. One-Punch Man Its Third Season Will Continue (In 2027) Truly the most surprising revelation, the widely-criticized controversial season that was season 3 of One-Punch Man proved insufficient to deter further production. Season 3 will be back with a second cour in 2027—so far away they could have called it season 4. More surprisingly, the studio J.C. Staff will still be at the helm. At least this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the start, which could be taken as a hopeful indicator. Yet, the key visual for the continuation is identical to the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This suggests that, nowadays, they must be mocking the fans. Ruri Dragon Will Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation Kyoto Animation has forged a name for being an top-tier animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the high caliber of its work but for the fair treatment of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Curiously, until now, it had not produced an anime stemming from a manga published in Shonen Jump, arguably the most iconic magazine in the industry. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a superb choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo gained massive popularity when it launched in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the mangaka's health issues. When it resumed publication with a reduced workload, the series proved it hadn't lost the fans' affection and enthusiasm, and now everyone is thrilled about the impending KyoAni adaptation. Kingdom Season 6 Is Getting a Follow-Up Now in the Works Kingdom is the best-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is not One Piece. If you've haven't come across it before, it's because it only recently got an English release, but the anime has been going on for a while, and season 6 was yet another outstanding entry. As it happens that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been announced as in production, and it will almost certainly air in 2026. Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series Another studio renowned for the excellent quality of its work, Science Saru has delivered critically acclaimed works of the quality of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, more recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the real historical figure of Fatima, an powerful woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. From the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a distinctly fresh and fascinating visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will definitely be on my list of anticipated shows. The Tougen Anki Series Will Return With a Second Season Right after the release of episode 24, it was confirmed that Tougen Anki will be securing a sequel. Adapted from the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara. The new season of the anime will cover the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm air date has yet to be revealed.
